ATE Program
The computer science and technology program provides a valuable summer internship placement opportunities to 1st and 2nd year聽 in the form of the L鈥橝lternance travail-茅tudes (ATE) program. Students who participate in the program complete two paid work terms of 8 to 12 weeks. The work terms take place in the summer following first and second years of study.
Employers get a substantial tax credit for both the interns and supervisors salary through the ATE program, making it lucrative to hire an ATE student over a regular intern.

Tax Credit Details
- Intern’s Salary: Employers can claim a portion of the intern’s hourly wage, up to a maximum of $21 per hour for a maximum of 10 hours per week.
- Supervisor’s Salary: Employers can claim a portion of the supervisor’s hourly wage, up to a maximum of $35 per hour for a maximum of 10 hours per week.
- Maximum Weekly Eligible Expenses: The total eligible expenses per intern per week can be up to $700.
- Tax Credit Rate: The standard tax credit rate is 24%, equating to a maximum of $168 per week per intern.
Example Calculation
If an employer pays an intern $20 per hour for 10 hours per week, and the supervisor’s wage is $30 per hour for 10 hours per week, the total weekly eligible expenses would be:
- Intern’s Weekly Wage: $20 脳 10 = $200
- Supervisor’s Weekly Wage: $30 脳 10 = $300
- Total Eligible Expenses: $200 + $300 = $500
Applying the standard tax credit rate of 24%:
- Tax Credit: $500 脳 24% = $120
Therefore, the employer would receive a $120 refundable tax credit per week for this intern.

Timeline
Employers are invited to submit a job post to our system allowing students and the ATE coordinators to see the various positions available. 吃瓜社区 students become available for internships around Mid May(exact date to be communicated). Students are required to complete a minimum of 225hrs of work over an 8-16 week period with an employer.
